Business Biographies… One pager… Whatever you may call it- let’s talk about it! Business biographies should highlight the good things about your business, the services you offer, and more.

By prepping this document you are allowing a grand overview to the potential client or consumer. Sometimes grant opportunities will ask that you include this document. You want it to be clear, concise, and targeted to the consumer. Are you sending it to a business? A school? A regular consumer? The language used and the items highlighted should be different.

Biography: A paragraph or two that defines what your business is, and the services or goods it provides all in written form. It may include bullet points as well to highlight specific items.

Capability Statement: A capability statement is a more formalized business biography or one-page resume for government agencies. Think clean graphics, word-heavy, and formal. It should include your DUNS number, Cage Number, and information on how to define your business. See mine below ⬇️

One Pager: This can be more informal, and is something you can have on your website, send to friends and family, and less formal clients. This could include more graphics, images of the product or service and should be able to capture their needs.

Media Kit: This can include your business biography as a part of it but is more comprehensive of your media presence. This may include social media, followers, platforms you're active on, and your actual service or good. If you have a flat rate for pricing include that as well. Depending on your amount of experience and the services you provide, it may be 2+ pages, and that’s okay.

Your Business Biography should include:

  • Mission

  • Vision

  • The population you serve / target market

  • Value your service or good will provide to the consumer

  • Brand Logo

  • Image (optional)

I have created all of these, and am consistently updating them to better highlight my business. If you are just getting started I recommend using an online content creator such as Canva to start with a template. Here are my examples for a media kit, capabilities statement, and one pager:
